Support LGBTQ Law Students and the Alexander Gray Scholarship!

The Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association is pleased to announce a special fundraiser dinner to benefit the Alexander Gray Scholarship Fund immediately following this year’s Law Student Reception on October 2, 2014.  The Law Student Reception is being graciously hosted by Goodwin Procter LLP (see below for additional details).

Please plan to join us immediately after the Law Student Reception for a 7:45 p.m. dinner at the highly-rated Tresca restaurant, a mere 7-8 minute walk from the Law Student Reception in the North End.  Tresca will be offering a choice of entrees (including vegetarian and gluten/dairy-free dishes) plus appetizer and dessert, as well as an opportunity to learn about the great accomplishments of recipients of the Gray Scholarship and how you can help support LGBTQ legal leaders of tomorrow.

The Gray Scholarship is awarded annually to a law student who demonstrates a commitment to and involvement in the LGBTQ community, exceptional leadership, maturity and responsibility.  Among the past 8 recipients are a former co-chair of the Bar Association; the Executive Director of Civil Legal Corps, a national fellowship and training program for young attorneys dedicated to closing the justice gap for low- and moderate-income Americans; a principal author of the 326-page manual Transgender Family Law: A Guide to Effective Advocacy; and the founder of Queer Youth Space.  Your generous support of the Gray Scholarship Fund will enable future leaders of the LGBTQ bar to devote themselves to not-for-profit activities and avoid excessive debt while completing their legal education.

Additional Details:

The ticket price for this event is $100 per person, the proceeds from which will support the Gray Scholarship Fund (a substantial part of the ticket price).  No portion of the ticket price is expected to be tax deductible but any additional contributions made directly to the Gray Scholarship Fund (c/o the Massachusetts Bar Foundation) are eligible to be tax deductible (here).

Tresca is located at 233 Hanover Street.  Seating is very limited and tickets must be purchased by September 24, 2014.  Tickets may be purchased
here or by contacting Kelly Bonnevie at Bonnevie@WMBLawFirm.com.

Please be sure to join us at the Law Student Reception beforehand!  There is no charge to attend the Law Student Reception at the offices of Goodwin Procter (Exchange Place, 53 State Street, Boston, MA).  To attend, please RSVP to Michael Xavier at mxavier@princelobel.com by September 19th in order to be added to the building security list.
