LGBT Family Law Institute Boston Regional Meeting

April 5-6, 2014

The LGBT Family Law Institute, a joint venture of the LGBT Bar and the National Center for Lesbian Rights, allows experienced LGBT family law practitioners to share collective wisdom and to discuss cutting-edge legal strategies for representing members of the LGBT community.  The Family Law Institute was founded in 2009 and gives participants an opportunity to network with lawyers from other states to build a cadre of family law practitioners throughout the country.

The LGBT Family Law Institute will host a regional meeting in Boston from April 5-6, 2014, at Seyfarth Shaw’s Boston office.  To increase the Institute’s presence in the Northeast, applicants from the following states will be given preference.

•New Hampshire

•Rhode Island

•New York

The purpose of the meeting is for participants to develop and share strategies for protecting LGBT individuals and families in the region.  Attendees will also network and discuss law office management practices to make our businesses and advocacy more effective.  All meetings are off the record and closed in order to promote the free expression of ideas and issues. Meetings are interactive and audience driven.  There are no CLE credits available for this meeting.

To guarantee that the discourse remains at a high level, and to ensure that all participants are able to contribute meaningfully to the conversation, interested parties must submit an application.  Applicants will be selected based on their experience with LGBT family creation, protection and dissolution.  Applicants should have familiarity with these issues and may be asked to provide evidence describing their familiarity with LGBT family law.

To apply to attend the regional meeting and to get more information, please visit the FLI website at http://www.lgbtbar.org/family-law-institute/2014-boston-regional-meeting/.
