The BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program Is Now Accepting Applications

The BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program is now accepting applications for a class that will begin in May 2013. Please pass this notice along to your membership and encourage any interested applicants to contact me with any questions.

As in the past, the program will be open to all lawyers within 10 years of graduating law school.  Applicants will be evaluated on a number of important criteria, including: (a) the extent to which applicants have demonstrated leadership in their community by participation in public service, pro bono, and/or organized bar activities; (b) the extent to which applicants have concrete ideas about their future contributions to public service, pro bono, and/or organized bar activities; and (c) the extent to which the incoming Public Interest Leadership Program group will reflect personal, professional, and legal practice diversity, in keeping with the BBA's mission.

The time commitment required of applicants will be 150 hours over 14 months, providing a strong opportunity for each PILP class to benefit from the knowledge and experience of their predecessor class. Applicants must have the support of their law firms or other employers. More information on the program is available here. Applications are due by the close of business on February 15, 2013.
