Mass LGBTQ Bar Joins Hundreds at Annual Walk to the Hill
13th Annual Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid took place on January 26, 2012
The Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association co-sponsored and had a strong presence at the 13th Annual Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid on January 26, 2012. Low interest rates on IOLTA accounts, years of level funding, and the increased need for civil legal aid has created a critical shortage of services with 3 of 5 eligible people not receiving necessary services. Attorneys met with their legislators urging them to support a 5 million dollar increase to the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation for fiscal year 2013. One of the most compelling and emotional moments came when Remon Jourdan shared his personal experience.
