Orientation and Training for Pro Se Mediation Panel

The United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, in conjunction with the Federal Bar Association (Massachusetts Chapter), is conducting a training for the pro se mediation program on December 4, 2019.

DATE: December 4, 2019

TIME: 4:00 - 6:00 PM

LOCATION: John J. Moakley Courthouse - Jury Assembly Hall

Attorneys are needed to join the program as mediation advocates. Mediation advocates represent pro se litigants at mediation of civil lawsuits pending in the United States District Court. Appointment requires only a limited appearance to represent the pro se litigant at the mediation proceeding. Each mediation advocate must agree to accept at least one appointment per year if contacted by the program.

Mediation advocates provide their services on a pro bono basis and new participants must attend a free orientation and training session at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse on December 4, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. presented by the United States District Court's Magistrate Judges and the Federal Bar Association, or have equivalent experience. If an advocate attended a prior training and has been on the panel list, to remain on the panel list, each advocate must either attend the training on December 4th or contact the FBA Liaison listed below to be added to the current panel list.

A reception for all participants will follow the training session.

Attendance at the training is limited. Please rsvp to rsvp@mad.uscourts.gov.

If you have any questions, please contact the FBA Liaison, Matthew Moschella, Esq. at mcmoschella@sherin.com.

A flyer for the orientation and training session is attached.

We look forward to seeing you on December 4th.

Judith G. Dein, U.S. Magistrate Judge
